RETRO RENTAL  ON A BUDGET
Inspired by SJW Colour My World at the Sydney Home Show

We believe that colour plays an important part in creating beautiful interiors, although so many are afraid to use colour, and wanted to show what an impact colour can have on your emotions and lifestyle. Two original artworks Immersion II and Immersion III by Catherine Whitting provide a pop of colour as soon as you enter the beach side unit.

Hues of teal and yellow breathe life back into the tired mustard kitchen and evoke an indoor/outdoor beach theme of sea and sand. Tenacious tones of teal was used in the dining room to complement the existing mustard kitchen that was reinvigorated with a little pop of Florence Broadhurst wallpaper.

Window treatments are critical features of rental properties. To funk up the existing tired kitchen the retro mustard joinery colour was made a feature and a focal point with the use of hand made Scandinavian graphic curtains. This provided a reference to the joinery and a distraction from old tiles and window surrounds.

Before and After photos show the value of lighting and mirrors to reflect light, the power of a pot of paint in a POP of colour and the softness of textiles to transform a space on a budget.

BUDGET BEACH SIDE RENTAL unit THAT NEEDED A MARKETING MAKEOVER – inspired by the SJW SYDNEY HOME SHOW display

The St James Whitting Sydney Home Show interior at Sydney’s Olympic Park in the Colour Your World precinct provided the inspiration for this four day revival project of a tired unit walking distance from Woolongong beach.
Lighting and window treatments are critical architectural elements that date rental properties. Installing new fittings in a contemporary monochrome palette that referenced the curtain rods, enabled the real estate agent to photo-shop furniture into the renovated empty rooms for the online marketing.
IN the AFTER PHOTOS below the real estate agent has given prospective tenants a vision of the lifestyle in the home for lease and has digitally styled the unit with a selection of photo-shopped furniture into the renovated rooms.
