Yaralla on a Sunday morning III 1/10

YARALLA ON A SUNDAY MORNING III 1/30 © limited edition custom printed series from original mixed media painting by Catherine Whitting for the St James Whitting art collection – painted locally plein air – at Yaralla Estate in the City of Canada Bay. Yaralla, an Aboriginal word believed to mean ‘camp’ or ‘home’- Yaralla was inherited by Eadith Walker (1861-1937) and was a centre for social life in Sydney in the early 1900s. Yaralla Bay has natural and cultural heritage significance for its biodiversity, coastal Saltmarsh; Swamp-oak Floodplain Forest; and Sydney Turpentine-Ironbark Forest – this historic site and local waterways has provided solace, entertainment and a natural sanctuary for generations. It is Whitting’s favourite place to meander .
